Richmond County Community Support Center

is a pioneer in the establishment and provision of community-based services, serving as one-stop portals where families can access employment, health and education programs. 

The Human Service Council, as an outgrowth of a grassroots initiative, established the organization through a grant from the Cole Foundation in 1992. Its purpose was to bring together local private and public groups, organizations and private citizens to share information and ideas, in an effort to make existing human service agencies more accessible and to assist local residents in meeting their long term needs.

RCCSC has operated Family Resource Centers in the communities of Ashley Chapel and East Rockingham in Richmond County since 1994 funded by the state. We have maintained strong community partnerships by mutually supporting the efforts of our partners in the provision of services to our families and collaborative efforts. Ensuring that linkages and step down services are in place to avoid unnecessary trips and travel to partner locations by our families and duplication of services. Director and staff serve on community boards and committees to stay abreast of community needs. RCCSC has successfully managed grants and contracts ranging from foundational grants by the Cole Foundation, Hanes Foundation, and Cannon Foundation and those granted on the local level by Department of Social Services and Mental Health to coordinate respite and client advocacy services; regional contracts offered by the Workforce Investment Act; state contracts offered by the Division of Child Development, Governors Crime Commission and the Division of Social Services; and on the federal level with the US Department of Labor for the faith and community-based initiatives.  Program evaluations and monitoring reports reflect an outstanding performance record.
